In Dawlish there are walks with buggies and wheelchairs, walks with dogs and easy walks of a mile or so. Start off gently with a walk along the sea wall and before you know it you will be up in the hills with wide views of the Exe Estuary and Torbay in the distance. These walks will take you along the coast to stretch those legs, around the town and into the dunes of the Warren. To Teignmouth and Starcross and up into the hills of Haldon to get some of the best views of Devon’s coastline and countryside.
Walking around Dawlish
You don’t have to be a big walker to enjoy any of the walks around Dawlish, and being that there is excellent train links to other towns if you follow the coast you will never be far from a station to hop on at and go home. There is a guide to walking from the Riviera Line that provides a great range of walks from the stations. All that walking will make you hungry though so make sure you return to Dawlish and take advantage of the superb cafes and restaurants.

Walk This Way is a friendly walking group that meets at 10.20 am on Mondays and Wednesdays at the railway bridge by the beach. Three walks are led for all abilities and anyone is welcome to join. hhttps://www.teignbridge.gov.uk/walkthisway

Dawlish Warren has a National Nature Reserve managed by Teignbridge District Council. There are regular walks and activities held at the visitor centre there.
Dawlish Walking Festival
In celebration of walking around Dawlish the town’s fourth walking festival was held from Saturday 27th April to Sunday 5th May 2019. Walks of all shapes and sizes were on offer, and it is hoped to hold the next walking festival in 2022.
